Commercial Pilot Airplane Requirements (FAR 61.123 and FAR 61.129)
- 18 years old, English proficient
- Hold private pilot certificate
- Pass required knowledge exam (70%)
- 250 hours (100 in powered aircraft, 50 in airplanes)
- 100 hours PIC (including 50 in airplanes and 50 XC)
- 20 hours training towards CPL including:
- 10 hours in complex airplane
- 2 hours dual day VFR XC (100 nm)
- 2 hours dual night VFR XC (100 nm)
- 3 hours test prep within 60 days
- 10 hours solo in single-engine airplane including:
- XC of 300nm total distance, landings at 3 points, one straight-line of 250nm from original point of deptarture
- 5 hours night VFR solo w/ 10 takeoffs and landings at airport with operating tower
- Pass the practical exam with a flight examiner
